Chelsea keen to stave off Barcelona interest in Willian as contracts for five stars lined

Chelsea are keen to keep Willian at the club despite potential interest from Barcelona, according to a report.

Barca have come in for Willian’s signature on previous occasions and were reportedly willing to pay up to £60million for the forward a year ago.

And according to Goal, Chelsea and Willian are still happy to carry on their current relationship – with the length of his contract the only thing to be decided upon.

But they’ve made exceptions to those rules for Olivier Giroud and David Luiz in recent months.

Willian told DAZN last week: “The only real official offer I had came from Barcelona, last year, after the World Cup.

“Barcelona indeed presented an offer to Chelsea but it was rejected.

“That was the only actual time I had to discuss something like this with my family, although we really love it here (London). So there were several factors that helped us in staying.

He also told Esporte Interativo: “I’m very happy here at Chelsea.

“My contract is ending now and at the end of the season it’s over, but I’m happy and I plan to stay here.”

Meanwhile, Lampard has said: “The word isn’t ‘no-brainer’ because I can’t get involved in the money, that’s up to the club to do.

“But everyone sees how much I’m relying on him and what he’s producing. I love him at this football club, so there’s my answer.”

Chelsea are also set to hand contracts out to the likes of Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Reece James and youngster Tino Anjorin.

Abraham has scored 11 times for Chelsea this season, with the Blues sitting third in the Premier League table.
