Four Arsenal players will welcome sacking of Unai Emery and arrival of Arteta or Allegri

Arsenal begin the search for a new manager following the sacking of Unai Emery.

Arsenal made the decision to sack Unai Emery on Friday morning, but the move comes as music to the ears of four Gunners players in particular. The Spaniard is said to have lost the dressing room, which was arguably evident in their results.

The Gunners have managed just one win in nine matches, wretched form that left the board with no other option but to dismiss Emery.

However for a number of players, his dismissal offers the opportunity to wipe the slate clean.

Express Sport has assessed four members of the squad that may reap the rewards of a change of manager.

Nicolas Pepe

There’s no two ways about it, Pepe has flopped since arriving in north London from Lille for £72million.

He has struggled to integrate into the squad and Emery’s persistence with chopping and changing the system has seen him fall in and out of the starting line up.

His quality cannot be questioned though, and a new manager could help bring the best from him, namely Arteta.

The Spaniard has worked closely with Pep Guardiola at Man City, where a 4-3-3 system has been deployed, something he could operate similarly at the Emirates Stadium.

One of Emery’s biggest downfalls was that he struggled to find a system that brought the best from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Lucas Torreira

The Uruguayan has become the subject of a joke from Arsenal supporters in recent times.

That’s because he’s consistently used out of position when he’s arguably their best holding midfield player.

Somebody like Allegri could make him the focal point of this team, and give him real value in the squad.

He’s flirted with a move back to Italy, but that could change with the arrival of a new boss with fresh ideas.
